You utter the words of the Old Kingdom Spell Shield and draw a circle in the air with the palm of your hand. The giant snake lunges forward and attempts to stab you with its venomous fangs, but it slams against your invisible shield and recoils with a bloodied nose. The creature hisses angrily. You have thwarted its first attack but your shield is beginning to fade. As the remnants of the spell disappear, the creature opens its terrifying jaws and prepares to strike again.
